BERGAMOT OIL USES AND INFORMATION
Many people remark about the wonderful aroma of our bergamot oil. It is so fragrant, floral and citrus and smells absolutely fantastic alone or in a blend. Most often, bergamot oil is used in blends for anxiety as it helps calm fears and takes the edge off a long stressful day. Actors may find comfort with bergamot because it is said to reduce stage freight and can boost the confidence.
Bergamot Oil Healing Properties:
Bergamot Essential Oil is an energizing citrus oil and is known to help create a sense of balance and inner peace. Bergamot is good to quiet the rambling mind, calm anxiety and relieve fear and stress.
This essential oil is a febrifuge / antipyretic oil, lowering the body temperature to help fight and/or prevent fevers.
Common Uses for Bergamot Oil:
To use as a vermifuge (expel intestinal worms), antiparasitic (parasite removal), or anti spasmodi (prevention of spasms or convultions) simply add a few drops of bergamot oil to a massage oil base and rub into the abdomen in a circular motion. This method also helps in the digestive process.
As a depression remedy, add a few drops of bergamot oil in a diffuser, or place the bottle under the nose and breathe deeply.
History of Bergamot Oil:
Bergamot oil is commonly used as a flavoring in Earl Grey tea and is also a commonly used ingredient in perfume and cologne. The name Bergamot comes from the town of Bergamo Italy which is located just north east of Milano.
Contraindications: Not to be used neat. Undiluted essential oils in their purest state are extremely potent, and should be blended with a carrier oil or other medium prior to use directly on the skin, as the essential oil may cause irritation. Most citrus oils can have a slight photosensitizing affect, and should be well blended with a carrier oil or cosmetic product when used on the skin. Bergamot essential oil should not be used in large doses on the skin (less than 1% diluted is appropriate). Avoid sun exposure if applying Beramot to the skin.
